Here in Luxembourg is very common for people to grow their own fruit and vegetables. In spring you will find in supermarkets and garden center tons of varieties of plants for a fantastic vegetable garden. I have tried to start a little one in our garden but it was all eaten up by birds and snails. Under kids insistence we have created a vegetable garden in big pots on our terrace far from snails and cats and protected by nets against the birds. In the past years we had great salads and even carrots!
The children were ecstatic to pick up their salads and prepare them for us!
During winter they ask me to buy a little orange tree to keep inside. It gave little clementines pretty sour that no one could eat raw. My daughter came up with the idea of making a jam out of them so here she is peeling and cutting the mandarins with her special knife. She put all in a pot with the same weight of sugar and two glasses of water. After more or less half an hour, here it is the jam!!
She had great fun and the jam was delicious J
This spring we will definitely restart our vegetable garden with lots of salads, strawberries and maybe we’ll try tomatoes!
